If you’re in one of our cities, we look forward to meeting in person.  Otherwise, we’ll meet with you via video-conference or even phone. When embarking on a new client relationship and each new project, it’s critical that we fully understand the requirements of the particular endeavor and take the time to answer your initial questions.

Project Planning

Together we set milestones. Between engaging in scheduled meetings (via virtual or actual face time in your office or ours) and the use of our project management extranet, we ensure that your project stays on track and within budget. Like you, we look to avoid surprises.

Project Engagement & Management

Once we’ve begun development on your project, you will have tools at your disposal to track progress and evaluate milestones. To simplify communication, VeloMedia will assign both an Executive Client Manager and a Project Manager.  The Executive Client Manager will be responsible for overall strategy and client happiness while the Project Manager will be responsible for day-to-day project team leading.

And later – if a retainer contract is elected for the ongoing maintenance and livelihood of your endeavor, your Project Manager will lead the team of configurers, integrators, and developers.  The PM will know where everyone is at each stage of development and keep you up-to-date.

In the days leading up to your site’s scheduled launch, you will have the opportunity to test all aspects of functionality. Our staff will be running stress, security, browser, and functionality tests, to ensure everything works and the server environment is dependable.

Project Completion & Evolution

We’ll never leave you hanging post-launch. Any commitment we’ve engaged in will specify a post-launch maintenance period, during which time VeloMedia is right there with you watching for pressure points created by the impact of the live audience.

• You will be provided with key functionality training in the use of your customized Content Management System (CMS), a.k.a. User Interface (UI), or web application.
• Access to CMS specialists, user guides, and video tutorials will be also available, going forward.
• And, if you are either hosting with us, or one of our hosting partners, we provide a guarantee of code for the life of our relationship.

When priorities naturally shift after launch, we work with our client-partners to service newly-immediate goals, moving from a fixed-bid to a retainer pricing structure to meet interest in additional functionality or to fit established servicing needs.

  Under no circumstances do we hack the WordPress core. All of our code is written completely outside the core. Visual and functional customization is written in plug-in (hook) architecture. Many shops write directly to the core files (a.k.a. hacking). We diligently monitor, contribute to, and participate in the best practices of the WordPress community.

• We utilize open source plug-in development from the WP community

  To create fast, iterative cycles of program development, we will sometimes create extensions so original code can be continually updated without affecting our customizations. Benefiting from the expertise of “Best of Breed,” open source plug-ins written by the WordPress community, we are able to extend the code resulting in customized functionality, saving time and money.

• We vet security and code updates

  Updates are vetted on VeloMedia development servers and then made available to production servers through our own plug-in repository auto-update feature. This enables our enterprise-level WordPress customizations to be conveniently maintained by the end-client, just as easily as standard, installed plug-ins from WordPress.org, but in a secure environment.
